Author Topic: One wallpaper wont scroll no matter what i try! Please help  (Read 12268 times)

Hi folks,

Im really sorry but Im so frustrated at the moment.  I have had my One for 3 days, and happened to be over at a friends who has a Desire.  He was scrolling side to side and i noticed his background wallpapers was slowly scrolling side to side in the background (and looking very cool too).

i asked how he did it and he just said it came like that.  Every image i have selected from the standard HTC wallpapers, live wallpapers etc dont scroll at all.  The icons scroll left or right to the next screen but the image in the background remains utterly static.

Fast forward 6 frustrating hours and endless google searches and Ive drawn a blank.

Ive read every post in the 'Official Wallpaper and Request' thread and whilst some of the suggestions seemed totally logican and hopeful nothing works for me.

I have downloaded several 960x800 images from that thread using my PC and emailed them to myself (i havent even gotten as far as plugging the One S into my computer yet).  i then opened the email on my One S (i use Gmail) and downloaded the image.

It downloads just fine, and bearing in mind this is a pre-formated image from the thread (960x800) i then hit the menu button and 'set as wallpaper'.  The image appears and I get a blue cropping square.  No matter how i click, drag, stretch or whatever, the blue square will not be the full size of the image.  i can stretch to full image width, but it always crops the top 10% or so of of the image.  The net result is that I have almost all of the image on the home screen, but scrolling to any of the screens to the left or right yields the same movement of the image in the background, just the icons move as expected.

Im incredibly frustrated by this and wish I understood what I am doing wrong.  I all other aspects the phone appears to be working perfectly.

Please can any one help.  Im pretty tech friendly and feel like a total idiot.

Cheers in advance.

I don't think the One S does it just tried it on mine and it didnt work either, tbh I think it is because the new sense ui is on a carousel where as the old one just side scrolled

Sent from my HTC One X Z710e

Hey guys, I'm having the same problem basically.  I can't put a scrolling wallpaper on - it's always just a static pic when I scroll.  I don't understand how so many people in the "Official Wallpaper & Request Thread" are getting this to they not have HTC One Xs also??  My phone makes me crop the pic every time.

I'm starting to think you may be right Dragonlance - since it's on a carousel it may not work.  But if even one person has made it work then it must be possible.  I don't get it.

background scrolling is not a feature sense 3...the foreground carousels instead  Smiley

Hi there.
I joined here because of this thread.  I recently got an HTC Rhyme and it has the latest Sense.  I was also experiencing that same problem.  I used to have a Droid Incredible and was used my background scrolling.

I have not tried this yet... BUT a way to get around this would be to use a different home replacement program.  A very cool one I used was Launcher Pro (it is extremely customizable). When you are using that, your wallpaper becomes scrollable.  You can easily switch between Launcer Pro and HTC Sense  Smiley

Okay I just tried it.  I installed Launcher Pro and HomeSmack (to switch between the two) and the wallpaper is scrollable now Smiley

I switched back to HTC and the wallpaper stays the same.

Okay, so I ran into a problem.  The wallpaper was scrollable when using Launcher Pro but when I switched back to using HTC Sense, the wallpaper looked blown up or too much zoomed in, no matter how I cropped it... it still appeared zoomed in.  I uninstalled Launcher Pro and sent HTC an email about it. I'm waiting on their response.

It would be cool if I could use the latest HTC Sense with scrollable wallpaper.  Anyway... we'll see...
