Or you could just save yourself the entire manual process of backing up your SMS by downloading and installing SMS Backup+ which automatically backs up your incoming and outgoing SMS to a folder in your Gmail account.  Backup is automatic, and restore is as easy as clicking a button.  It takes all of about 2 minutes to set up the app once you have it installed.  Quick.  Easy.  Automatic.  And free.
