Author Topic: HTC PowerSkin  (Read 10727 times)
« on: July 11, 2011, 08:24:11 am »

Hey All,

So I just purchased the HTC PowerSkin for my phone on Saturday and figured I would to a brief review on it here.

First thing I noticed is that its thick! It makes the phone twice as thick as normal. It also adds a 1/2 inch bump to the left side of the phone (it tries to hide the connection to the phone). Because of the size it does not fit into a normal case for the One. I had an old Verizon case that I had to cut to make it kind of fit. For me is a down side to this add-on. It does have a slot for the camera, speaker, and microphone. Also it adds a charging port to the right side of the phone so you can charge the phone and battery at the same time. On the back of the case is an on/off/status button. Up to 4 lights come on to indicate the backup/extended battery level.

Second is that is feels like a typical silicone skin. Which is not horrible to be as I have had something similar in the past. I do not believe that it gives as much protection as you would expect for a silicon case.

Third thing is the battery life. I fully charged the phone and the extra battery and used the He%% out of it all day yesterday. After 23 hours I still had 2/9ths left of my battery. That was heavy with usage (Netflix, games, internet, messaging, e-mail, and some photos).  I did notice that the back of the case did get warm but that was to be expected.

So to sum it up:

Pros: Awesome battery life
Cons: Makes the phone bulky and heavy, does not really protect the phone, does not fit into a standard HTC One X case/holster, the adapter port moved to the other side and now it does not fix the standard dock.

I personally would keep it because I need the battery life. I am not near a car charger or laptop during the day so it works for me. Also I got it for $30 (with my discount) so that’s a great deal. However if I had to spend the $60us I would not have purchased it.

This was my first review ever so I hope it helped!
