HTC flashed a lot of news recently with the announcement of the HTC One X+, but tucked away in the press release was news that the Jelly Bean update for both HTC One X & HTC One S is set to arrive in October. This update is labeled as Android Jelly Bean with HTC Sense 4+.
I am not a fan of OEM's announcing & releasing new devices that are just spec upgrades while they have flagship devices that are still not up to date with Jelly Bean. With the announcement of the HTC One X+, I would be furious if I were a HTC One X or HTC One S owner. It was a smart move by HTC to include this "Jelly Bean update Coming Soon in October" blurb for these customers in a new device announcement. I would imagine an up roar would have ensued as yet another OEM ignores the people funding their managers' hefty bonuses R&D divisions when it comes to up-to-date software.
This Jelly Bean with HTC Sense 4+ is set to have "Tap and Go function,” video hub, camera improvements, and an easier updated "Get Started" setup. What we can hope for is major enhancements in the overall stability of HTC Sense in general. No amount of RAM or processing cores is going to help a poorly built skin.
The great news though is that HTC One X & HTC One S owners should be receiving some Jelly Bean goodness sometime in October. Let us just hope that HTC does not fumble this release.
Are you more excited about getting Jelly Bean or HTC Sense 4+?
