: One XE Not Playing All Audio Channels
: thejenkmeister January 25, 2012, 05:54:23 AM
Hello all

I've just got my One XE (upgrade from Desire so a familiar phone) and although I am very impressed with the sound quality I've noticed that the headphones don't play all the audio channels. This is most noticeable on mp3's of 60's music where sometimes instruments/vocals would have been played through only one earphone.

If I unplug and play through the speaker then everything plays fine, it's only when played through the headphones. I've tried others headsets and external speakers but it's the same, and I've plugged the beats audio ones into my Desire and those tracks played fine through them so it's definitely the XE not playing the full spectrum of audio.

I've also tried other players from the android market (4 in total) and they all do the same thing, and disabling beats audio and installing an equaliser app does nothing.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

Hi thejenkmeister and welcome to the forum.

Sounds like it may be a poor connection at the top of the phone, the 3.5mm jack. With an mp3 file playing and the headphones in you ear, try plugging it in and moving it around. Then try pushing it in as far as it will go. Notice anything?

If you determine this to be the problem (mechanical) the fix would be pretty straight forward. Just take it back and either swap it for a new unit or leave it for repair under warranty.  Good luck!

Thank you for the welcome, and for such a quick reply!

Had a play around to see if that was indeed the case, and as I was slowly disconnecting it and shaking it around I could indeed hear the missing vocals. I then took the casing off to see what I could see and I don't know whether I had not fitted the case correctly after installing the sim card but there must have just been a loose connection and it is all up and running properly - and what a sound it makes, amazing quality!

Thanks again for your help!
