Author Topic: Foursquare icon changes to default Android icon  (Read 3947 times)

When I create a folder on my home screen and add Foursquare to it, after a few uses, the icon changes to the default Android icon (see attached screenshots). The icon remains normal in the Apps screen, but when used in a folder it always changes after a while.

I have noticed the following behaviour on both HTC Desire as well as One XE.
On both devices it only happened after upgrading to OS version 2.3.x.

I guess this is a Foursquare problem rather than an Android problem, but was wondering if anyone has any ideas regarding this?

No, it is an image caching issue, but that's not to say there's anything wrong.

If it really bothers you that much, here are a couple things you can do on your end to peruse a remedy:

  • Do not use a task killer.
  • Do not purge (delete)  cache in any of your apps
  • Do not move apps to the SD card, especially if they're widgets
  • Do not change image cache settings

Also, every time you reboot (restart) your phone a few icons will be MIA with the default Android icons standing in for them until the image cache also reinstates itself after a couple minutes. This is normal.

Thank you, I'll give that a try. I do use a task killer as it happens...

Tut tut task killers are wrong and pointless.
