Hi,

have been trying for a while to add gmail account to HTC mail app - no luck  Sad It simply shows "Authentication failed. Please verify your username/password"

Could it be related to the fact I am using 2-step verification process on gmail?

Please help!

Do it the other way around. Just use the Gmail app.

On your computer open Gmail and configure it to import your contacts and to retrieve all email sent to your other email addresses.

All this will automatically populate the Gmail app on your phone. Contacts will sync with the SMS client and street addresses will also sync with Google Navigation. You just need to add that account to the phone's system settings & sync it.  It makes things very convenient.

Do you want to add pop3 or imap ?
Check the web settings for Gmail (on the Gmail-site) and set it up to forward imap/pop3

On the website there are more directions on how to configure your email client

I have already Gmail app and it works fine. The thing is that I wish to have it on original HTC app and I suspect that it is related with 2-step verification security settings on gmail.com.

I use my googlemail in normal app its using pop not IMAP. And you should leave all the SSL and ports at default the system will pick them up.
