Hi all

Tried downloading this app to my phone but when activating realised that it only works fully in the states.  I was keen on having this app as it can track family members phones on your gps. With my son getting older and demanding more freedom it would be nice to have the peace of mind of knowing his whereabouts if required. Does anyone know if there is any other app about that could help me out with this?

My son has a really cheap PAYG phone and i am thinking i might have to get him a more up to date one with an android operating system to find an app that could help.

Any thoughts???

x

Unsure you could buy him the One S then track him with sense feature from any pc with username an password. Of course you have to set it up on phone before giving it to him.

Sent from my Rooted unlocked HTC One X using Coredroid v.2.4 sense 3.5 + 2.3.4 base mods + batt + sys ul + transparency  using tapatalk pro

There is this KipTrack gps tracker, but my main "concern" with these apps,
is that the gps will drain the battery, and the notification icon is visible.

Thanks for the replies. I wasnt wanting to spend too much money on a new phone for him as he already has a list the size of my arm for xmas. Wink

Maybe look at getting him an entry level android phone with gps. I would be telling him about the tracker and explaining that it is for his own safety so I am not worried about setting it up on the fly.

Battery issue is not something i considered, thanks for the heads up.

Also might take a look at Lookout (free Android app.) Has tracking capabilities similar to HTC Sense, and could run on non-HTC Android phones.

You might  even consider an older iPhone (2g, 3g) since they're going for next to nothing nowadays.  They have their own apps for family tracking.

BTW - I have always kept GPS enabled 24/7/365. Never considered not to have it on. Half the apps I use demand it. With a 1900 mAh battery you'd get a full day of normal use between charges.
