I have been finding my self going back to the old text screen and not using handcent. The reason I do this is because while on the regular text screen I can be vertical and just turn the One on it's side and it will display the horizontal keyboard. Handcent does not seem to do this for me automatically??

I like to text using the horizontal mode because for me, it's less of a help and I can see where my finger is in relation to the key. I try to use Swype most of the time and this facilitates this for me and makes me less error prone.

Try turning off quick reply. Since the quick reply is technically on the home screen, which doesn't change to landscape mode, it also doesn't change its orientation. I haven't had any problems with orientation when composing messages, but I did notice that it wouldn't change in quick reply.

I look at this a a pronounced short coming, why would you not address this feature of the phone??? If it is not a short coming then I have to view it as a bug!

Mezmo, I think we need a little more information.

If I am in handcent, then turning it on its side goes into landscape mode just as it should. (I assume you have auto rotate checked under application settings in handcent.)

If your talking about the pop up notification from handcent you get when screen is locked. That will not go to landscape mode because it is placed on the htc sense page. and htc sense home doesn't support landscape mode(which is a shortcoming).

Pretty sure they could do it. But not sure if they feel its worth the effort. (you can get landscape with some aftermarket launchers like helix.

I also really like launcherpro, its really quick and you can customize the icons on the bar at the bottom. But you give up all the HTC sense widgets.

kind of damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Am I going crazy or is Handcent having a lot of updates lately?  I swear I am doing the second one this week........ Huh?  Edit: Maybe the third time in the past 2 weeks?

I have not but my partner has, and he said his phone reset two nights ago as it was sitting on the front seat of the car, doing nothing.  Laggy too.  You think it's the handcent update?  Interesting... maybe contact the developer for the app?
UPDATE:  My partner had the older version, where as I had updated to the newest, so I would suggest checking to make sure you are running the most current.  Once updated, the phone worked fine  Cool
