Kinda ironic we're talking about navigation here...
Before smartphones, I used to have a PDA that could do most things my smartphone does, including navigation. I require a fairly large screen, I am more suspectible to glare than I used to so some things will not wholly change for me.
I can't use my BB for navigation, even when walking its screen real estate is a joke. With One I would imagine I'd be using Google nav more when outside the vehicle. I have a Garmin Nuvi 775, it tells me my lanes in major areas.
Now that the One is 4.3" and so is my Nuvi surprisingly... I could drop the nuvi, the downfall is glare, I have a "hood" (specifically made for the Nuvi) to cut that out, I can't exactly do that with my One.
One other thing: while using One nav and receiving an incoming call, I would find this actually more annoying because I'd want the GPS to stay on at all times regardless of whether a call is incoming otherwise I wouldn't hear instructions and such.
When I raise my screen brightness to max on the One, I can see it perfectly in direct sunlight with no glare. I agree about the use of the Nav on the One when I need to make/receive a call. I use the One Nav (usually Google) around town. On long trips, I break out the Garmin.
The sprint nav did not really work out that great.. I own a separate gps nav system but the sprint version fails to reroute if you get off it's path.
I had it set to take me to a mall but I got off the parkway and got on the highway and for the 10 min drive it kept telling me to go the other way.. by that time I just exited out of the program because it got annoying.
I just tried out the google one today but I will test it later on.
I haven't had the rerouting issue with Sprint on the One. On my Instinct, it would say, you are off track three times and then it wouldn't utter another word until I got myself back on track. Yeah, that was annoying.
NOTE: I combined your posts. Please don't post back-to-back messages, just edit your previous one if you need to. Or if multi-quoting, just hit "quote" on each note successively in the fast reply window and it will insert the quote.
Cool, I'm glad you combined them but I won't be doing that. I will not go back and search every post that I've ever submitted on a topic each time I am having a new discussion. Also, it gets really confusing to read. I have been on several other forums and NONE had the obsessive desire to combine posts. Can I please ask why it is so critical here?
