Hi, I need more memory for my HTC One X, currently it has an 8 GB sandisk micro SD card in it and I want to add as much memory as possible, currently on ebay ive found some 32GB cards but they seem to vary in price from about 20 quid to about 40, what is the difference (if any) and whats the biggest/best memory one i can put in? Cheers, ps any chance of a link to it aswel? nice one.

the difference is the speed some are faster( so more smooth interaction) and other slower I would recommand getting a fast one otherwise the device is going to be slow as snail on swamps lol.

So look for "micro SDHC card class 10" 10 is the fastest as of now. You SHOULD GET THAT. BUT SPEED IS EXPANSIVE.

The micro SDHC 32GB cards did not come in class 10 until just recently, so it's still a new technology - meaning it's overpriced and sometimes unreliable.

Anyways, there are dozens of comparisons of class 6 and class 10 cards where it was proven that class 6 cards are actually faster Smiley

I'd say class 4 cards should be good enough speed wise and much more reliable.

I have a Sandisk 32Gb Class 4 microsdhc card. I can confirm that it works very well with the One and it was not that expensive as well.

Class 10 is pretty much overkill, will cost far more than a regular card and it wont give you that much extra if you just use it for normal activities.

I have a Sandisk 16GB Class 4 card and it works outstanding.
Keep in mind the Class 4 mostly refers to the WRITE speed, the READ speed greatly exceeds the "maximum" of 4.
Run a benchmark and you will see Tongue

I always go for Sandisk for memory cards though. They simply seem to perform the best.
Though Kingston makes very good card as well they just... Not quite get to the performance I get with Sandisk.

Ordered mine from opus.de, it's a European supplier.

So, it's not worth paying more for a class 10 card?

If you use it for normal things that dont require very high write rates: dont bother buying a Class 10...
If you just use it for playing music and storing your apps then a Class 4 is more than enough.

The only thing you will gain extra out of a Class 10 is that transfering files to the SD card will go faster in optimal conditions. However it usually is a one time thing to transfer a lot of files to your SD card and after that it mostly comes down to the READ speed. Which wont make much difference.

I Just bought a PNY 32GB Hi-Speed MicroSDHC Class 10 for from Amazon, a reasonably priced 32 gig MicroSD.

they say money can't by time, but the extra cash you spend on a class 10 sure can buy time.

Why I would recommend buying fast over big is just the time it takes to load up the card.
My experiences of coping gigabits to the card before rushing out to catch a plane, made me never buy a class 2 card again, and the extra $40 it costs for a class 10 will save you 10 - 15 minus if you are copying 20 gigs at one time.

not all class 10's are equal, so read reviews, some cost doable with lower performance.

Then again a class 6 16gig will in all likeliness out perform a class 10 32 gig. so don't go big unless you need to.

Agrees, I opted for the 32g class 10. Also will as I have 3 for my NIKON cameras it really does help when transferring pictures and large files.

In a mobile phone, anything above class 4 will not be noticed.

The technology continues to move forward, but the current CPU speed limitations in mobile phones is slow to keep up.
